Jerry Marotta & Rock City Road: Live at Dreamland Recording Studios
Jerry Marotta’s Rock City Road band will kickoff an ongoing series Live at Dreamland Recording Studios with a virtual concert on Jerry’s birthday. February 6, 2021. The band will feature guest vocalist Joanne Cassidy from the Marotta Brothers Band. In addition to the musical performances, there will be interviews with Jerry and his musician friends.
In planning for these ongoing performances jerry reached out to some of his favorite musicians to work with such as Daniel A. Weiss (keyboards), John Putnam(guitar), and Mike Visceglia. Each show will feature special guest performances from artists that have worked with Jerry, the band members, or recorded at Dreamland Studios.
This historic studio located outside of Woodstock, New York has recorded many musicians over the years including The B-52s, Living Colour, Pixies, Sawyer Fredricks, Lake Street Dive, Snarky Puppy, Bob Weir, Regina Spector, 10,000 Manics and more. In addition to operating as a full scale analog and digital state of the art recording studio, Dreamland is now offering streaming services to showcase live performances.
Drummer Jerry Marotta has performed/recorded with Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Hall & Oats, Indigo Girls, John Mayer, Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, Robbie Robertson, Linda Eder, Cher, Bonnie Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Mary Black, Chris Botti, Ani Defranco, Tim Finn, Ferron, Ellis Paul, Marc Cohn, Sheryl Crow, Michael Franks, Robert Fripp, Gowan, Orleans, Richard Page and that just scratches the surface. Jerry is also an accomplished producer as well as heading up Dreamland Recording Studios.
Guitarist John Putnam has performed/recorded with Madonna, Desiree, Jimmy Cliff, John Denver, SouthSide Johnny, David Johanssen, Cher, and more. In addition to many Broadway performances, John has also composed numerous film/TV scores.
Bassist Mike Visceglia has performed/recorded with Suzanne Vega, John Cale, Jackson Browne, Avril Lavigne, Cyndi Lauper, Better Midler, and more. when he’s not touring or recording Mike finds time to perform on Broadway and author books and magazine articles.
Daniel A. Weiss has been music director, associate conductor, composer, and performer for Broadway/Off Broadway shows that include Rent, Let It Be, Taboo (Boy George),Hair, Disney on Broadway, Rock and Roll Refugee (Genya Ravan) , and many more. He’s also toured with Joan Osborne, Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Jeffrey Gaines, Slam Alan, Alexis P Suter, and others.
Special guest vocalist for this show is Joanne Cassidy. Joanne is the main vocalist for the Marotta Brothers Band when they perform their summer residencies on Martha’s Vineyard where she also fronts the Vine Shakers. She studied performance and songwriting at the Berklee College of Music in Boston then spent years opening for Livingston Taylor.
